Welcome to Sambatan Jogja (SONJO)

SONJO is a humanitarian movement focusing on helping vulnerable and risked communities affected by the spread of Covid-19 in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). SONJO is a Javanese word which means friendship. For this humanitarian movement SONJO is an abbreviation of Sambatan Jogja. SONJO uses Whatsapp Group (WAG) as the main media for coordination. There are currently 9 WAGs established at SONJO, each of which focuses on particular fields. The membership of SONJO reaches more than 500 people. There are 8 programs developed in SONJO which are divided into three sectors, i.e., health, economy, and education. The SONJO movement is inclusive in character. It engages all elements of civil society in DIY and involves persons with disabilities in several of its programs.
